A 1.5-metre bench on one side of the dining table is the oldest trick for making a small dining corner work. It seats three where two chairs would fit, slides completely under the table when it is not in use, and gives you back the walkway. In a four-room flat that is the difference between a dining area and a squeeze.

Solid wood, same finish and grain as the Toronto tables and chairs, so it reads as one piece of furniture rather than an add-on. The top is a single continuous surface with eased edges — no ridge to sit on and no sharp corner at shin height for the kids.

It arrives assembled. We place it, check it sits flat on your floor, and remove the packaging. Buy it with a table and chairs and the whole set lands in one delivery.
